Halifax vs Chorley Predictions

Chorley will travel to West Yorkshire where league leader Halifax Town host them at the Shay on Tuesday. Can the home side continue their winning streak?

National League leaders Halifax Town remain on top of the table after picking up another crucial victory. It was a narrow 1-0 win over Maidenhead Town but it meant that the Shay kept a second clean sheet in a row after their unfortunate loss to Harrogate Town the week before.

In fact, prior to their 2 most recent fixtures, Pete Wild’s side had conceded at least once in their last 11 games, meaning that they now have a bit of consistency in their backline. The club is also joint-second in goals scored, aided in part by their continuous goal-scoring form, which has seen them rack up 7 goals in their last 4 ties.

At the opposite end of the table, Chorley is having a tough time finding their feet after picking up a measly 11 points from 15 league games. The Magpies are winless in their last 5 games, doing so once all season in a convincing 3-0 win over Stockport County at the start of September.

Jamie Vermiglio’s side has lost 6 and drawn 8, and they face a monumental task when they visit Halifax. Their away form has improved in recent weeks, winning a couple of points in their last two games, but their lack of goals-12 so far- both home and away will make it even harder when they face their upcoming opponents.

It seems like an easy day in the office for Halifax Town, as Chorley come into this tie with a terrible run of games which has seen them score just once in their last 3 fixtures, failing to score in their two most recent ones. Halifax have won 5 of their previous 7 home games, with the other couple of matches ending as defeats. Moreover, the Shay has been able to score in those 5 victories, failing to do so in their defeats. We’re going to back the hosts to win 2-0 here, as we feel that Chorley’s lack of goals in recent weeks will impede them from performing well against the league leaders.
