Hearts vs Hamilton Academical Predictions

Hearts returned to the Scottish Premiership last season and made their mark instantly with a sensational run of form at the beginning of the campaign that kept pace with leaders Aberdeen and Celtic. Eventually their form fell away, but they still managed an impressive 3rd place finish in their first season back in the top flight.

The start of this Scottish Premiership season hasn’t gone quite as well though. They began by knocking Infonet Tallinn out of the Europa League but were then dumped out in the next round by Birkirkara.

Hearts began the domestic season with a 2-1 defeat at home to champions Celtic and were then knocked out of the League Cup at the hands of St. Johnstone. They managed a point at Aberdeen after a goalless draw, but in the last few weeks their season has really got going. They thrashed Inverness CT 5-1 and then beat Partick Thistle 2-1 away from home before the international break. Now they will be hoping to extend their winning streak and hold onto the top three spot they currently occupy.

Hamilton Academical, after a poor season last term, which saw them finish just outside the relegation playoff spots, they are strong favourites for relegation from the top flight this season. They lost some key players in the summer transfer window and didn’t have the funds to replace them, but it hasn’t been too bad so far.

They started the campaign by winning three of their four Scottish League Cup group games and then drew 1-1 with the newly promoted Rangers in their league opener. A defeat to Greenock Morton dumped them out of the League Cup and they then lost to Kilmarnock in the Premiership.

Hamilton Academical bounced back from this double defeat and earned a 1-1 draw at Dundee and then beat Ross County 1-0 at home just before the international break. If they carry on like this they can be certain of a place in the Scottish Premiership next season.

Despite Hamilton Academical’s apparent lack of talent within their squad they have done pretty well going forward. They have scored in all nine of their matches this season, although they have conceded in seven of them as well. Hearts have also seen both teams hit the back of the net in seven of their nine competitive games this term, so odds of 10/11 for Both Teams to Score looks very good value. I’m going for a 2-1 win for Hearts at 7/1 for my correct score prediction as well.
