Huddersfield vs Wolves Predictions

This is an unlikely top of the table clash in truth with leaders Huddersfield taking on 3rd place Wolves. Clearly it is still very early days but a win for either side here would give their fans just another reason to start dreaming about a possible promotion challenge this season.

With the investment that has taken place at Wolves over the past couple of months they may have more reason to think their team can stay the course. They’ve made a great start to life under Walter Zenga in a season when you might have thought they’d improve with time, given the players they have to come back from injury and the time it might take new signings to settle. However, the Black Country side remain unbeaten and are looking for their 3rd win in 8 days here after a 3-1 league win at local rivals Birmingham last weekend, prior to a 2-1 victory over Cambridge in the League Cup.

Huddersfield’s return of 10 points from 4 games is even more impressive when you consider the fixtures they’ve had. Their opening two away games have been at Villa Park and St James’ Park and before a ball was kicked you’d have got huge odds on the Terriers being top of the Championship tree after just 4 games. All their wins have been by 2-1 margins, including their defeat of Yorkshire rivals Barnsley last weekend and both teams have scored in all of their 5 matches this season.

They certainly have goals in them but Wolves have looked better than might have been expected going forward too and have scored twice or more in 5 of their 6 games this term. Given that, backing a 2-2 draw at 14/1 looks to offer real value here and it’s a result that both managers would probably be content with to keep their unbeaten starts going past the international break.
