Hull vs Brentford Predictions

Hull will be in the Championship play-offs this season and they will most likely be up against Derby County, a side who they’ve lost to twice this term by a worrying aggregate score of 6-0. Indeed their only home defeat this term was against the Rams and they have three games to get some momentum and rhythm going before the play-offs kick off. The Tigers are unbeaten in 4 matches but aren’t entirely convincing right now and could only draw 2-2 at home to Leeds at the weekend. 5 of their last 7 home games in the league have finished all square and they’ve conceded at least once in 9 of their last 10 league matches, something that wasn’t happening too frequently earlier in the campaign.

Brentford on current form will test their defence to the max too. They are going well again under Dean Smith and have won 5 of their last 6 matches, drawing the other to move into the top 10. They have scored 3 or more goals and won on all of their last 3 away trips with the latest being a 4-1 win at MK Dons at the weekend so the Londoners should be full of confidence as they travel North.

Given that and given Hull’s current defensive struggles you have to say that at least one away goal looks highly likely. Brentford have also conceded in 13 of their last 14 away matches though so up against one of the strongest teams in the league with a great home record, it’s virtually impossible to see Hull not breaching their defence at some point too. For those reasons backing both teams to score at 5/6 looks a very appealing bet here. Both teams have scored in all of Brentford’s last 5 matches and all of Hull’s last 4 so there looks to be real value in that bet.
