Ipswich vs Nottingham Forest Predictions

These two clubs appear to be stuck in this division and have played each other in it every year since Ipswich were relegated from the Premier League in 2002. They are likely to be meeting again next year with neither side looking likely to be moving up or down. Ipswich  have the better chance and their 1-0 win at Huddersfield last time out took them to within 4 points of the play-off places with a game in hand on most of the sides above them.

The Tractor Boys had lost their previous 3 games though to see their promotion dreams fade a little but come into the match in better mood that Nottingham Forest. The East Midlands club enjoyed a strong winter going 13 games unbeaten in the league but too many draws mean they didn’t really threaten the top six. Since then though they have suffered 3 successive defeats, two of which were poor home losses against Huddersfield and Bristol City and their season looks set for an unspectacular end.

Forest have little to play for now in truth and will probably only need a handful of points from their remaining 12 games to ensure they stay up. Over the past 12 months only sides currently in the top six have won at Portman Road so Ipswich are pretty strong at home and should have enough to nick this. There have been under 2.5 goals in 11 of Forest’s last 13 games and in 3 of the last 4 involving Ipswich so we are unlikely to see a great deal of goalmouth action but the hosts look like the more likely winners and Ipswich can be backed to win 1-0 at 11/2.
