Draw 1-1

Reason for tip

There have been under 2.5 goals scored on each of Roma’s last six Serie A trips to Juventus. Meanwhile, the Bianconeri, who boasted Serie A’s fourth-best defensive record last season, have only won one of their last six competitive matches and are lacking attacking inspiration.

Juventus vs Roma Predictions

  • Juventus and Roma have both started the Serie A season with back-to-back clean sheets.
  • Eight of Roma’s last nine competitive matches have contained under 2.5 goals.
  • Each of the last six Serie A meetings between Juventus and Roma in Turin have contained under 2.5 goals.

Title test for Bianconeri and Giallorossi

Juventus and Roma are the only teams in Serie A to have kept clean sheets in each of their first two games of the new campaign, and Saturday’s headline clash between two sides tipped as title outsiders represents a huge test for both. While Juventus’ fanbase is already restless after Massimiliano Allegri’s men failed to beat Sampdoria last time out, Jose Mourinho’s team have impressed in claiming back-to-back wins.

Indeed, Roma may have only scored two goals in their first two games, but no other team in Serie A has created as many expected goals (5.8 xG) or recorded as many shots (47). The Giallorossi’s defensive solidity is nothing new; eight of their last nine competitive games have contained under 2.5 goals, and Mourinho’s side have kept clean sheets in each of their last four matches. Only three Serie A sides, meanwhile, conceded fewer expected goals against than Roma (38.5) last term.

Juventus, meanwhile, struggled in their stalemate with Sampdoria, having hit Sassuolo on the break in a 3-0 opening-day win one week earlier. Only Serie A’s top three conceded fewer goals than the Bianconeri’s 37 last term, and the addition of the division’s 2021-22 defender of the year Gleison Bremer has further strengthened their rearguard. However, the absences of new boys Paul Pogba and Angel Di Maria may mean an already uninspiring home side lack creativity on Saturday.

Cagey affair likely in Turin

With both Juventus and Roma looking to build on solid starts to the campaign and prioritising defensive strength, backing under 2.5 goals to be scored looks prudent, having proven a winning bet for each of the Giallorossi’s last six league visits to the Allianz Stadium.

Meanwhile, Juve have only won one of their last six competitive games, and Roma could be worth backing to pick up a creditable 1-1 draw.
