      Paphos to Win

      Reason for tip

Kairat have been unable to showcase what they can do in the League Phase, but they have netted 52 times in 25 games in the Kazakhstan Premier League. Pafos have secured 18 points from seven games in the Cypriot First Division and they will not be fazed by the trip to Almaty.

      Paphos 2-1

      Reason for tip

Pafos have won one point in the Champions League so far and they face a Kairat side that have lost 4-1 to Sporting Lisbon and 5-0 to Real Madrid. Pafos secured a 0-0 draw against Olympiacos in their first game and they have proven they can compete at his level, unlike their hosts.

      Kairat Almaty vs Paphos Predictions

      • Kairat are without a win in their previous eight UEFA competition group stage/league phase matches
      • Kairat have won their last five games in the Kazakhstan Premier League, scoring nine goals at home during that time
      • Pafos have scored in 14 of their last 16 UEFA competition games

No need for Pafos to fear Kazakhstan trip

Kairat Almaty and Pafos FC are looking to secure their first wins in the League Phase of the Champions League when they meet on Tuesday night in Almaty.

The hosts are rock bottom of the League Phase after a 4-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon and a 5-0 defeat to Real Madrid, while Pafos are one better off after they held Olympiacos to a goalless draw before losing 5-1 to Bayern Munich.

Both clubs sit top of their respective domestic divisions, but Kairat’s home advantage will not be as effective this week. A lot of other European teams have struggled with the travel commitments to Kazakhstan, but for Pafos, the trip is not as long and they will fancy their chances of finding the back of the net.

Kairat will view Tuesday’s game as their easiest in the competition so far, but Pafos have shown they can compete against Olympiacos and that’s a good marker ahead of kick-off.

The Cypriot outfit have scored in 14 of their last 16 UEFA competition matches and they reached the last 16 of the Europa Conference League last season, so this trip to Kazakhstan should be a winnable tie.
