Kalmar FF vs IFK Goteborg Predictions, Betting Tips and Match Previews

This Saturday’s Allsvenskan clash sees the sides in 9th and 11th places meet. There hasn’t been a great deal to choose between the sides this term and neither Kalmar nor Goteborg have found any real consistency. They’ve enjoyed some good days and have upset higher placed sides and should have enough to easily beat the drop but both teams look well short on making a real European challenge.

Kalmar don’t take great form into this. Since winning the reverse fixture against Goteborg less than a month ago, they’ve lost all three Allsvenskan matches without even scoring. They have had some tough fixtures though with two of those games against top four teams but it’s now just one win in seven overall in the league and they are undoing some of the good work they did earlier in the season.

Goteborg tend to blow hot and cold and have only once won back-to-back competitive matches since October of last year. Therefore we probably shouldn’t get too carried away by their 3-0 victory over relegation-threatened Brommapojkarna last weekend. They lost to another bottom four side the week before that and their level of performance just seems to vastly differ from week to week, which makes them a hard team to call from a betting perspective.

Both sides have lost four of their last six league games but there could be some value in backing a low-scoring game here. The most compelling reason for that comes in the fact that a huge 86% of Kalmar’s home league games this term have produced under 2.5 goals. Only two teams in the division can better their average of 1.07 goals per game conceded but only three teams have scored fewer than them, so they are clearly one of the Swedish Allsvenskan’s more cautious outfits.

Goteborg are a bit more positive but 3 of their last 5 away league games have also produced under 2.5 goals. It would be no great surprise to see a repeat here and backing Under 2.5 Goals could be the way to go given the lack of goalmouth activity at the Guldfågeln Arena this term.

In terms of the outcome it’s a tougher call given neither are in particularly impressive form. Kalmar have tended to enjoy life against Goteborg over the past few years though and will take confidence from their win in Gothenburg only last month so going for a 1-0 Home Win could be worth a punt in the Correct Score market.
