Kilmarnock vs Ross County Predictions
The Scottish Premiership is incredibly tight outside of the top three, with just eight points separating 4th placed St Johnstone with the danger of the relegation playoff position down in 11th. It is Kilmarnock who currently occupy 11th place, but a win for the hosts on Tuesday would see them leapfrog Hamilton ahead of their weekend clash with Celtic.
Ross County are one of the teams on the more optimistic side of this battle, with their 36 points leaving them eight points clear of the relegation playoff position in 5th. Realistically, they can’t hope to break into the top three, but they will be hoping to make the top four. But Ross County’s recent poor form needs to be turned around soon or they could well find themselves slipping into a more perilous position.
Kilmarnock are the second worst defensive outfit in the Scottish Premiership having conceded 49 goals so far this season, and despite Ross County’s recent lacklustre form the visitors have still managed to net 11 times in their last seven games. To be fair to Ross County, two of their three recent defeats have been against the likes of Celtic and Hearts.
Five of Kilmarnock’s last eight games in all competitions have seen three or more goals scored in them, with seven of Ross County’s last eight also ending the same way. This makes odds of 7/10 for Over 2.5 Goals look really good value to me, especially considering each of the last nine meetings between these sides have been goalfests.
Ross County’s form may look poor at the moment, but defeats against the likes of Celtic and Hearts shouldn’t be held against them. I think they have the quality to see off a Kilmarnock side who have only won one of their last nine home matches, so a 2-1 correct score prediction looks good.
