LA Galaxy vs DC United Betting Tips & Predictions

LA Galaxy have a host of huge name players in their squad, but the ageing players have had doubts cast over them about their fitness. They lost 4-0 on aggregate to Santos Laguna in the CONCACAF Champions League in the last week despite the presence of their high profile names.

Nigel De Jong, Giovanni dos Santos, Robbie Keane, and Steven Gerrard all started this game on Wednesday, but their presence did nothing to stop the hosts getting a comprehensive 4-0 win at home. Three of these players are on a decline in terms of their fitness, and playing another game under a week later could prove an issue for them.

LA Galaxy have a habit of splashing the cash on these big name signings, but it didn’t do them much good last season as they finished in 5th in the Western Conference. Meanwhile, the cash strapped DC United utilised their bargain buys well and managed to finish 4th in the Eastern Conference.

These two sides are like polar opposites. On the one hand, LA Galaxy have big name players throughout their squad that just don’t seem to gel with each other and on the other you have bargain DC United players who act as a cohesive unit despite their relative lack of talent.

Considering LA Galaxy’s performance in the CONCACAF Champions League and their ageing players’ declining fitness I think DC United have a chance this weekend. Odds of 9/5 for a DC United Win or Draw look incredibly valuable too, so that’s what I’m backing along with a 1-1 draw at 7/1.
