      Rayo Vallecano Draw No Bet

      Reason for tip

Rayo Vallecano are in the mix for European football while Las Palmas are staring down the barrel at relegation, so it is hard to see why Los Amarillos are favourites for Friday’s clash. The hosts have won just two of their last 17 matches and look set for another damaging defeat.

      Rayo Vallecano 2-1

      Reason for tip

Despite their struggles, Las Palmas have found the net in four straight home games and may force their visitors to outscore them at Estadio Gran Canaria. Rayo Vallecano, meanwhile, have netted in 17 of their last 21 La Liga matches and should net a couple against their struggling hosts.

Las Palmas vs Rayo Vallecano Predictions

      • Las Palmas have won just two of their last 17 matches in all competitions
      • Rayo Vallecano have suffered just four defeats in their last ten away league matches, with all of those defeats coming at La Liga’s current top four
      • Las Palmas won the reverse fixture 3-1 but had 1.3 less expected goals than Rayo that day

Las Palmas primed for a damaging defeat

Given they had finished 16th the season before, many questioned Las Palmas’ decision to bring in inconsistent players like Oli McBurnie and Scott McKenna in the summer and those who were baffled by their strange business are being vindicated in their doubts, with Los Amarillos three points off safety with just four games remaining.

A dreadful run has seen Las Palmas win just two of their last 17 matches in all competitions and even a smash-and-grab victory over Atletico Madrid wasn’t enough to boost confidence around the club, as they have lost their two subsequent games.

With their form hinting at definite relegation, it is somewhat confusing to see they are favourites for Friday’s visit from Rayo Vallecano, a side on the cusp of securing European football for the first time since the 1999-00 campaign.

Rayo ready to exact revenge on Los Amarillos

A quick glance at Vallecano’s away form could explain things but their run of four losses in five road matches has only seen them lose to sides currently occupying top-four berths in La Liga.

Another doubt for Rayo will be the fact they lost the reverse fixture 3-1 but, again, a look into that defeat suggests they can exact revenge. Vallecano won the expected goals 2.4-1.1 in that defeat and they are unlikely to be as wasteful this time around.

Vallecano are aiming to match or better their eighth-placed finish from 2013 and they can take another step towards that goal by winning at Las Palmas on Friday.
