      Albania To Win To Nil

      Reason for tip

Albania have recorded away wins against Ukraine and Georgia over recent months and they should have too much quality for a Latvia team that struggle for goals, failing to net more than once in any of their last 16 matches.

      Albania 1-0

      Reason for tip

Albania beat Ukraine and Georgia on their travels by a one-goal margin over the autumn and they could edge a similarly tight game in Latvia, with the hosts lacking a cutting edge to hurt their visitors. This match may, therefore, be decided by a solitary goal.

      Latvia vs Albania Predictions

      • Latvia have only won two of their last seven home matches, with both victories coming against the Faroe Islands
      • The hosts have failed to score more than once in any of their last 16 matches
      • Albania recorded eye-catching away wins against Ukraine and Georgia in the Nations League

Solid Albania can edge to victory

Albania have made a solid start to their World Cup qualifying campaign, taking four points from matches against England, Andorra and Serbia, and they will expect to get the better of Latvia when they head to the Skonto Stadium on Tuesday.

After producing a competitive showing at last summer’s Euros, the Red and Blacks were unfortunate to suffer relegation from their Nations League group over the autumn after accumulating a competitive seven points from six games.

That tally included away wins over Ukraine and Georgia and they can overcome a Latvia side that have only won two of their last seven on home soil, with both of those victories coming against the Faroe Islands.

      Latvia lacking cutting edge

Like Albania, Latvia struggled in the Nations League over the autumn and face a play-off next year to avoid being relegated to the bottom tier of that competition.

Paolo Nicolato’s side have only scored one goal in their three games since that group campaign and that came in a nervy 1-0 win over Andorra in their opening World Cup qualifier.

Since then, Latvia have lost to England to nil and played out a goalless friendly draw with Azerbaijan, while they have failed to net more than one goal in any of their last 16 games since beating Armenia 2-0 in October 2023.

All that suggests the hosts may struggle to get on the scoresheet on Tuesday and Albania can edge to a narrow 1-0 success.
