Lazio vs Genoa Predictions

Gattuso up and running at Lazio

Gennaro Gattuso’s reign as Lazio head coach started in disastrous fashion with a 2-0 home loss to lower-league Mantova in the Coppa Italia, but they returned to form with victory at Bologna in their Serie A opener and can follow up when Genoa visit the Stadio Olimpico.

Genoa also have an Italy World Cup winner in their dugout in Daniele De Rossi, but his side ended last season by taking two points from their final five games and started this term with a 2-0 home defeat to Napoli.

De Rossi’s side have only scored once during that six-match winless run and their recent record against Lazio also does not make for good reading.

Recent history favours hosts

Lazio have won each of their last six meetings with Genoa, although the most recent of those – a 3-2 success at the Olimpico in January – did rely on a penalty in the 100th minute from Danilo Cataldi.

The two goals the Biancocelesti conceded in that game are the only two they have let in during their six-match winning run over Genoa, a sequence that includes a pair of 3-0 victories.

With Lazio finding their feet under Gattuso and Genoa struggling for league goals, another 3-0 victory for the hosts could be on the cards.
