Leeds vs Birmingham Predictions
Birmingham have made a strong start to the campaign and their 2-0 win at Brentford in midweek lifted them into the lofty heights of the top six. It has been a while since the Blues have been anything like in the hunt for a return to the Premier League but they are a well organised unit under Gary Rowett and could just threaten the play-offs if they can keep their best players fit.
As for Leeds it has been even longer since they’ve looked like the sort of side that could finally end their long absence from English football’s top tier. Uwe Rosler has made a solid start but 15th place after 9 games is hardly anything remarkable.
They have picked up an excellent couple of away wins in recent weeks at Derby and MK Dons but are yet to win at home in the Championship and this will be their 5th match at Elland Road. Birmingham also seem to enjoy life on the road, where they are unbeaten with away wins coming at Milton Keynes and Brentford.
They have yet to fail to score away from home and against a Leeds side that are yet to keep a home clean sheet, there stands an excellent chance that that run will continue. Birmingham have only kept 2 clean sheets themselves though this season so you could certainly see a home goal too and backing both teams to score at 8/11 looks like a smart bet here.
That’s not to say that you should expect a huge amount of goals in this game. 3 of the 4 Championship games at Elland Road this season have ended 1-1 and no side has drawn more times than them in this division.
There have been signs of progress at both clubs this season but it has been steady progress rather than revolution and it’s hard to confidently back either side to have the quality and conviction to go out and win what is likely to be a very tight game.
Therefore consider backing this to end 1-1 again at Elland Road at odds of 5/1.
