Tip Reasoning

  • Both Leeds and West Ham have seen both teams score in four of their five Premier League games this season.
  • West Ham won both meetings with Leeds last season, including a 2-1 win at Elland Road.
  • Michail Antonio has scored five goals in five competitive appearances for the Hammers this season.

Whites struggle to hit their stride

Leeds United’s Carabao Cup journey continued in midweek with a penalty victory over Fulham but their record in the top-flight leaves a lot to be desired five weeks into the new season.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side remain without a win in the Premier League after a 1-1 draw at Newcastle last time out, and they are likely to find it difficult to break that run against a West Ham side going from strength to strength.

Antonio returns for happy Hammers

The Hammers’ unbeaten start to the season came to a dramatic end at Old Trafford last weekend but there is a healthy level of optimism around the club after an assured start to the campaign.

They followed that disappointing defeat up by beating Manchester United in the Carabao Cup in midweek, leaving them with a record of four wins, two draws and one defeat in all competitions this season.

David Moyes’ side have scored 11 goals in their five league games so far and their confidence will be further boosted by the likely return of Michail Antonio on Saturday. The 31-year-old has five goals in as many appearances for West Ham this season and he looks a good shout in the anytime goalscorer market.

Goals on the cards at Elland Road

That’s unlikely to be the only goal of the game, too. Both Leeds and West Ham have seen both teams score in four of their five league matches this season and I’m expecting another entertaining affair at Elland Road.

West Ham did the double over Leeds last season and beat them 2-1 at Elland Road. The Whites have scored exactly once in three of their five league games and that makes a 2-1 win for the visitors appealing as a correct score prediction, especially with Leeds missing the defensive quartet of PAscal Struijk, Luke Ayling, Diego Llorente and Robin Koch.

Leeds predicted lineup: Meslier; Dallas, Phillips, Cooper, Firpo; Shackleton; Raphinha, Rodrigo, Klich, James; Bamford

West Ham predicted lineup: Fabianski; Coufal, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell; Soucek, Rice; Bowen, Fornals, Benrahma; Antonio

  • Leeds have not won in five Premier League games
  • Both teams to score has been a winning bet in seven of West Ham’s last nine Premier League away games
