Leeds to Win

Reason for tip

West Ham have lost six of their last seven Premier League games and they’ve been beaten in six of eight trips, including visits to Nottingham Forest and Everton. Leeds haven’t lost at home to any team outside the top seven and they’ve won three of those five games.

Leeds 2-1

Reason for tip

Leeds have conceded in 81% of their Premier League games this term, while they’ve scored at least twice in four of their last six in the league. Back them to edge out a Hammers side who have lost by a single goal in five of their six away defeats.

Crysencio Summerville To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Summerville scored in each of his last four games before the World Cup and with the fixture list easing for Leeds he should get more minutes in this clash. He faces a poor West Ham defence, so back the 21-year-old to strike.

Leeds vs West Ham United Predictions

  • West Ham have lost six of their last seven Premier League games
  • Leeds are unbeaten at home to sides outside the top seven, winning three
  • The Hammers have the second-worst away record in the division, suffering six defeats
  • Summerville has scored in four of his last five appearances for Leeds

Boost for Leeds

After being handed a difficult clash with Man City in their return to action this month, Leeds were able to boost their fortunes with a hard-fought 0-0 draw with high-flying Newcastle. They held firm against the league’s overachievers to earn a bit of a confidence boost, which could prove vital here.

West Ham are spiralling at the minute and David Moyes is fielding questions on his future in every press conference. The consistency he brought to the London Stadium has evaporated, leaving the Hammers only outside of the drop zone on goal difference. After losing two from two over the festive period, the visitors look vulnerable heading into this one.

Opportunity for hosts

While this has been a tough season for Leeds, they have the chance to boost their survival hopes thanks to the torrid run the Hammers are on. Moyes has oversaw a run of six defeats in seven league games, while the Hammers have been beaten in six of their eight away trips in the Premier League this term.

The visitors have lost their last three on the road, while they are bottom of the Premier League’s form table. The visitors have the second-worst away record in the division, while they’ve already suffered defeats at struggling sides like Everton and Nottingham Forest. Meanwhile, Leeds are unbeaten at home to teams outside the top seven this term, winning three of five such games.

Summerville to make the difference?

Leeds were handed a tricky double-header against two of the top three, forcing them to dial back their attacking intent. Jesse Marsch should look to restore that against this Hammers’ side, having seen them ship five goals across their two games since returning to action.

Leeds have plenty of attacking talent to throw into the mix, with Rodrigo already enjoying a couple of purple patches. However, the man most harshly done by of late is Crysencio Summerville. The young forward had scored in four straight games for Leeds before the World Cup, but he featured in just 20 minutes across the two games since.

With Marsch likely to sense an opportunity, I’m backing Summerville to return to scoring form, with a home win my main prediction. I’m also backing another high-scoring game for the hosts, with a 2-1 victory my correct score prediction.
