Leeds vs Wolverhampton Predictions
- Leeds have won four of their last five meetings with Wolves
- Wolves failed to score in any of their last four away league matches
- Noah Okafor has scored four goals in his last four league outings for Leeds
Whites to edge further clear of danger
Leeds United stunned Manchester United with a 2-1 victory at Old Trafford on Monday night and we predict more joy for the Whites on the back of that long-awaited victory.
That success at their bitter rivals ended a 45-year wait for a league victory at the Theatre of Dreams and Leeds can use it as a springboard to secure their Premier League safety with three points against Wolves.
A Leeds win to nil is our main prediction as bottom-side Wolves have struggled to score away from home recently and the incentive is huge for the Whites to produce a stellar performance.
Victory over Wolves would lift Leeds to the 39-point mark, the magic number generally acknowledged as the key mark to avoid relegation. Whether it will be enough remains to be seen but it would mean the pressure would be virtually off the Elland Road side with five games left to go.
For Wolves relegation is a near certainty despite their recent improvement but things could become almost terminal following this contest.
Old Gold tame on the road
Wolves have been bottom for most of the season but there have been signs of life from Rob Edwards’ men who have lost just three of their last nine matches in all competitions.
However, they have remain 15 points adrift of safety with just 18 left to play for and it remains just a matter of time before their fate is sealed and it could come as quickly as this weekend if results go against them.
Last week’s 4-0 loss at West Ham hinted that the fight had finally left the Old Gold and it was symptomatic of recent results on the road which have seen them fail to score in their last four away league matches.
Things may not be quite as bad at Elland Road where we predict a 2-0 win for the home side who have scored two or more in four of their last five meetings with the Old Gold.
Okafor fancied to score
Noah Okafor was the Leeds hero with both goals in the win at Old Trafford on Monday and he is fancied to hit the target once more on Saturday.
The Swiss forward has bagged four goals in as many league games for Leeds in recent matches and he could give Wolves the run around just as he did the Manchester United defenders earlier this week.
Wanderers have kept just one clean sheet in their last seven outings and it is hard to see them holding out at Elland Road for too long either
