Who needs a defence anyway?

Lille ended 2022 in strong fashion by going unbeaten in their final three league games of the year. But back-to-back league draws in 2023 will be far from ideal for manager Paulo Fonseca and he banged the drum after their draw away to Brest as he felt it was two points dropped. We could see a reaction here, particularly now they’re at home where they are unbeaten in seven of their nine league outings.

The visitors are just four points clear of the relegation zone but will be happy that they’ve posted a balanced record of achieving half of their points tally away from home. They’re also scoring an average of just over two goals per game on the road. The issue is, they’re conceding more than that and given they’re yet to keep a clean sheet on their travels, another goal heavy match looks likely.

Lille to edge a thrilling contest

We expect goals here, unfortunately for the visitors, we think Lille will score the majority and win the match. But both teams should get chances and a home win with both teams firing looks an interesting angle.
