Hugo Ekitike To Score Anytime

With Alexander Isak injured and Mo Salah at the Africa Cup of Nations, this is a great opportunity for Hugo Ekitike to prove he is the main man at Anfield and the Liverpool forward can boost his goal tally in this one.

Liverpool vs Leeds Predictions

  • Both teams have scored in nine of Leeds’ last ten Premier League matches.
  • Liverpool have conceded in six of their nine home league games this season.
  • The Reds have scored at least twice in five of their last six league outings.

Slot’s boys have climbed out of their rut

It is undeniable that Liverpool’s challenge to retain their Premier League title has not gone to plan following an autumn slump that left them in the wake of Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa.

However, Arne Slot’s team have hit some form with three successive league victories and they are strong fancied to at least claim a Champions League spot, which, while disappointing, looked an insurmountable task a few weeks ago.

Their latest success was a 2-1 victory over bottom-of-the-table Wolves, which followed victories of Brighton and Tottenham, and the ship has undoubtedly been steadied.

However, Slot will want his team to have some more assurance at the back as Anfield clean sheets have been far from guaranteed and Leeds do possess a strong threat, as they showed in a 3-3 draw between the teams at Elland Road a few weeks ago.

Whites progressing in relegation fight

The Whites needed an injury-time strike from Ao Tanaka to claim a point on that occasion and Daniel Farke’s side have gone on a run that has helped give them some breathing space away from the bottom three.

They are six points clear of the drop zone following a decent 1-1 draw at Sunderland on Sunday and the Yorkshire outfit, who always tend to put on a show in front of their own pans, have begun to show some form on the road, having drawn at Brentford and also been beaten by an injury-time goal at Manchester City.

Striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin has hit a purple patch with seven goals in his last six appearances, so they possess a threat even if an Anfield victory may prove beyond them.

A Liverpool win with both teams scoring looks the way to go with a 2-1 home success potentially attractive to those looking for a correct-score interest.

Ekitike can be main man for Reds again

Slot has had to reshuffle his forward options with Alexander Isak ruled out with a broken leg and Mo Salah playing for Egypt at the Africa Cup of Nations, but he should be able to rely upon Hugo Ekitike, who has impressed since signing in the summer.

The former Eintracht Frankfurt striker has eight league goals to his name this term and while he was unable to net against Wolves, he scored five goals in his previous three games, including a brace in the draw at Elland Road, so expect him to shine again.
