Genoa to Win

Reason for tip

Genoa usually put away the lower-half teams at home, having beaten three of the four they have faced at Stadio Luigi Ferraris this season. Meanwhile, Udinese have lost three of their last six away Serie A contests and come into this off the back of a disappointing 1-1 home draw with second-bottom Cagliari.

Mateo Retegui To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Mateo Retegui has scored two goals in his last five appearances. The Italy international looked sharp last week, twice troubling Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret with firm headers.

Genoa vs Udinese Predictions

  • Genoa have beaten three of the four bottom-half opponents they have faced at home this season
  • Udinese have lost three of their lat six away Serie A contests
  • Mateo Retegui has scored two goals in his last five appearances and twice troubled Napoli with firm headers last weekend

Grifone look good for a home win

Genoa are good enough to see off relegation-threatened Udinese when the two sides meet at Stadio Luigi Ferraris on Saturday.

The Grifone moved onto 30 points with a solid 1-1 draw at Napoli last week and it could have been more if Cyril Ngonge had not popped up with a stoppage-time leveller.

Alberto Gilardino’s side have lost only one of their last 10 Serie A games and are regular scorers, having registered at least once in eight of those matches.

Retegui can make the difference

One goal might be enough to earn three points against the inconsistent visitors, who beat Juventus in Turin two weeks ago. Gabriele Cioffi’s side followed that great result up with a disappointing 1-1 home draw against second-bottom Cagliari in which they finished with as many yellow cards as shots on target.

The Little Zebras lack a reliable goalscorer and that deficiency will hold them back in games where chances are likely to be few and far between. Aside from a recent 4-1 slip-up at home to Atalanta, Genoa have been a solid defensive unit at the Luigi Ferraris and should be confident of shutting Udinese out.

Mateo Retegui, who twice went close to scoring with powerful headers against Napoli last week, can be the match winner if he gets enough service. The Italian international has scored two goals in his last five appearances and looks as good a choice as anyone in the anytime goalscorer betting.
