Tip Reasoning

  • Leeds are unbeaten in their last four home games (W2, D2).
  • Leeds have managed clean sheets in each of their last two fixtures.
  • Brentford have lost two of their last three away games, with one draw.
  • Raphinha has six goals in 12 Premier League appearances.

Leeds can take advantage of faltering Bees

Leeds have started to pick up in recent weeks with just one defeat in their last five league games and Sunday’s home game against Brentford looks like a real opportunity for the Elland Road club to pick up a win.

The Bees slipped to a 2-0 loss at Spurs at midweek and in truth were never really in the game. There were some encouraging signs late on for Thomas Frank’s side in North London, but by that stage a result was already out of reach.

Leeds’ recent revival has largely been down to some good results at home and they are unbeaten in their last four at Elland Road, with two wins and two draws. Brentford have just one point to show from their last three trips, and as such a home win stands out here.

Brentford lacking a cutting edge

Brentford actually had more of the ball in their defeat to Tottenham and their build-up play was fairly impressive but they seemed to run out of ideas in the attacking third.

Leeds have managed two clean sheets in their last four at home, conceding just twice overall during that run, and so far only Manchester United and Liverpool have managed to score over two goals against Marcelo Bielsa’s men – and both of those games came in the early stages of the season.

There does appear to be a defensive solidity about Leeds right now and they go into this game seeking a third clean sheet after a 0-0 draw at Brighton and a 1-0 home win over Crystal Palace. With Brentford looking a little jaded in attack, the Yorkshire outfit may be able to keep another shut-out and a 2-0 win has some appeal in the correct score market as the Bees have conceded at least two goals in four of the five Premier League games they have played since Alvaro Fernandez replaced the injured David Raya in goal.

Raphinha the danger man

Raphinha scored from the spot in injury time in the win over Palace, taking his tally to six goals in 12 appearances in the league for Leeds this season. The Brazilian has scored almost half of Leeds’ goals in the Premier League and as their designated penalty taker he looks the best contender for an anytime goal here.

Leeds predicted lineup: Meslier, Ayling, Llorente, Cooper, Struijk, Raphinha, Rodrigo, Phillips, Dallas, James, Bamford

Brentford predicted lineup: Fernandez, Goode, Jansson, Pinnock, Canos, Baptiste, Norgaard, Jensen, Henry, Mbeumo, Toney
