Lokomotiv Moscow vs Fenerbahce Predictions
Lokomotiv Moscow certainly looked like a team that hadn’t played a competitive football match for ten weeks last Thursday. Fenerbahce dominated the game in Turkey and made their dominance count with two goals from Souza. This makes things very difficult for the Russians going into the 2nd leg, with them needing to turn over a two goal deficit, and it’s made even worse by the fact that they don’t have an away goal.
Fenerbahce played out a goalless draw at Bursaspor at the weekend, with them missing out on the opportunity to leapfrog Besiktas at the top of the Turkish Super Liga. A failure to score is a rarity for this talented Fenerbahce side though, and they will be confident that they can get on the scoresheet in Russia with the likes of Robin van Persie, Nani, and Souza in the team.
Reasons for Betting Tips
Lokomotiv Moscow will have to go for it on Thursday if they want any chance of overturning the two goal deficit they carry into this match. Fenerbahce haven’t had the best defence this season either, so it’s still all to play for. The Turkish side have conceded three or more goals in two of their last four away matches in all competitions.
The hosts have scored in each of their last four matches as well, so they should be confident of getting a goal against Fenerbahce to put the pressure on them. However, the Fenerbahce attack isn’t exactly bad, scoring an average of two goals per game in their last five matches. This makes a high scoring match look likely to me, and odds of 13/10 for Over 2.5 Goals look excellent value. I think Fenerbahce will hang on and qualify though, settling for a 2-1 defeat to send them through.
