Lyon vs PSG Predictions
- At least four goals have been scored in four of PSG’s five French Cup games this season
- PSG won both Ligue 1 games against Lyon 4-1 this season, but Les Gones are currently in better form
- Alexandre Lacazette has scored eight goals in his last eight appearances for Lyon
Lacazette and Mbappe clash to make for a goal-laden final
Lyon’s recent form suggests Saturday’s Coupe de France Final will be a lot closer than the odds or their previous two results against opponents Paris Saint-Germain indicate.
The French champions are red-hot favourites to complete the double in what will be Kylian Mbappe’s final game for the club. But the French icon could be outshone by evergreen striker Alexandre Lacazette if Lyon can reproduce one of the performances that saw them grab a Europa League berth with a remarkable end-of-season run.
Lacazette’s brace in last week’s 2-1 win over Strasbourg took him to 19 Ligue 1 goals for the season from an expected goals (xG) of 11.9 and he will arrive in Lille for this game having scored eight in his last eight appearances.
Lyon can manage multiple strikes
Goals could be the play on Saturday as, although PSG were convincing 4-1 winners when these sides last met a month ago in Paris, they had Gianluigi Donnarumma to thank for keeping Lyon in check.
Pierre Sage’s side had more shots (16-14) and won more corners (10-4) than their hosts in that clash, although the xG figures tell a different story.
Les Gones should have scored more than once on the night and they generally have been doing that recently, managing multiple strikes in six of their last eight contests. And with PSG conceding three at home to Toulouse and Le Havre recently, the feeling is that backing over 3.5 goals here should be far less stressful than taking Luis Enrique’s side to win in 90 minutes at around 4/7.
