Mallorca vs Athletic Bilbao Predictions

Mallorca battling against the drop

Mallorca have won three of their last six, but only one of those wins came in the league, against struggling Cadiz at Estadi de Son Moix last week.

That ended a run of four successive La Liga defeats for Luis García’s side, whose 11 home matches in the top flight this season have provided merely 19 goals, with three fixtures ending as 0-0 draws.

In total, only three home league fixtures have contained three or more goals, while they have failed to score at all in three of their last four league outings at Estadi de Son Moix.

Bilbao pushing for European football

Athletic Bilbao sit in eighth place in La Liga, but they were only four points behind fourth placed Barcelona before the weekend fixtures and have lost just once in their last ten matches in all competitions.

Marcelino García Toral’s side have been strong on the road, losing just once in twelve league matches, although eight of those fixtures have ended as stalemates.

Goals are few and far between in those outings though, so do not expect too much excitement. They have netted just eight times on their travels and conceded only five.

Only one of Bilbao’s last 18 away league games, since March 2021, have contained three or more goals, so it is doubtful this one will see plenty of action in the two penalty areas.
