Mallorca vs Real Madrid Predictions
- Real Madrid lost just one of their 38 games as they won the La Liga title last term
- Mallorca netted only nine goals in their final ten home league games of last season
- Los Blancos won both meetings last year to nil
Madrid should make a winning start in Mallorca
Real Madrid cruised to glory in La Liga last term, finishing ten points clear of their rivals Barcelona, and they will be confident of getting their title defence off to a winning start when they travel to Mallorca on Sunday.
Los Blancos dominated Atalanta on Wednesday to lift the European Super Cup, racking up 2.46 expected goals to the Italian outfits’ 0.59 as they landed a 2-0 victory, and they should be similarly dominant at the Estadi Mallorca Son Moix.
Given Madrid have won six of the last seven meetings between the pair, including both last season, it seems likely they will be taking three points back to the capital this weekend.
Champions can stand firm
All eyes will be on new signing Kylian Mbappe on his La Liga debut and after netting in the Super Cup with a brilliant finish, his confidence will be high and he can help his new side to victory.
However, while their frightening attack, made up of Mbappe, Vincius Junior, Rodrygo and Jude Bellingham, will get fans off their seats, it could be their exceptional defence which is the deciding factor in this clash – and perhaps will be over the course of the season too.
Madrid conceded only 26 goals in the league last term and with Dani Carvajal, Antonio Rudiger and co at the top of their game, plus given the fact Los Blancos kept a clean sheet in both of last season’s matches against Mallorca, it could pay to back the champions to begin their La Liga title defence with a win to nil this Sunday.
