Millwall vs Burnley Predictions
- Fewer than three goals have been scored in seven of Millwall’s last eight league matches
- Fewer than three goals have been scored in nine of Burnley’s last 10 Championship games
- Burnley are without their two leading strikers and have only scored more than once in one of their last six away games
Clarets lack the firepower to scare Lions
Burnley could lack the firepower to finish off a dogged Millwall side that will be looking to extend a four-match unbeaten run when they host the Clarets at The Den on Sunday.
Scott Parker’s side have dropped points in three of their last four matches, losing ground in the race to stay in the Championship’s automatic promotion places. And the reason for their slip is the lack of goals being produced by a Burnley attack without several creative players and finishers.
Zian Flemming is ineligible to face his parent club on Sunday, leaving Parker without his best backup option for injured striker Lyle Foster while wingers Mike Tresor, Manuel Benson and Nathan Redmond are all still out. Jeremy Sarmiento is a doubt, so Parker is likely to include veteran Jay Rodriguez as the only likely attacking change form the side that drew 0-0 with Queens Park Rangers last time out.
Millwall have made themselves hard to beat
Goals have been a problem for Millwall too with Neil Harris’ side having scored only three in their last five Championship games. But the last two have been winners as the Lions’ defence has been able to keep clean sheets against Plymouth and Swansea.
They will face a tougher test from the Clarets, who have been getting a few goals from midfield. Burnley have also been higher than any other club in the country since the start of September, conceding only two goals in their last eight league games.
The obvious play here is to back Under 2.5 goals at around the 1/2 mark. It’s not worth risking anything on Under 1.5 goals in this scenario as Millwall can be dangerous at home and may improve with the return of loan striker Josh Coburn from injury.
