Reason For Millwall vs Swansea City Predictions

  • Millwall have failed to win any of their last 5 home matches.
  • Swansea have scored 10 goals in five away trips, half of which were scored by Rhian Brewster.
  • The last seven meetings between these two sides have produced only one home win.

Top six test

Swansea’s shock loss to Luton on Saturday saw them lose ground on rivals Cardiff in the fight for the playoffs. The Swans were frustrated against the Hatters, going down 1-0 despite pouring forward throughout. They need to continue that attacking intent on Tuesday when they visit the Den to face off with Millwall.

The hosts have picked up a point from two matches since the restart. Their own playoff hopes are fading, especially with questions over their form at home. It was already wavering before the league was paused but without home support, the Den isn’t the same difficult proposition anymore. That’s likely to hamper their chances of sneaking into the top six. We see things getting worse for Gary Rowett’s men in our predictions.

Millwall’s shaky form

The Lions have won just one of their last six Championship games (D3 L2) and are winless in their last five at home (D3 L2). They head into this one within five points of the playoffs, but that run points to their promotion hopes falling short. This clash will go some way to deciding where Millwall go from here, as a defeat would all but end their hopes of extending their season into August.

Millwall’s home form is an issue without fans, as they do have one of the best home followings in the league. Their loss at home to Derby in their first game back was more comprehensive than the 3-2 scoreline suggested. Their 0-0 draw at Barnsley saw the Lions waste a lot of possession, with only one of their 10 attempts troubling the goalkeeper. Following that poor start, the Swans will look to take advantage.

Swans can edge this clash

The visitors come here having scored at least twice in three of their last four away trips, so Millwall’s defence is in for another test at the Den. The Swans hit three past an admittedly fragile Middlesbrough side in their first half of football after the restart. They cruised through that one with Rhian Brewster getting among the goals. He’s scored five times in their last five away trips, during which time the team have scored 10 goals.

Millwall have lost their last two home league matches against Swansea City. Overall, this isn’t a fixture which has really suited the hosts over the years. The home team has won just one of the last seven league meetings between Millwall and Swansea, with the Swans winning 1-0 in February 2019. Without a home support, that run is likely to go on. Given how these two sides are looking, we are backing Swansea to take the spoils. We’re also going for a 2-1 win for the visitors in our correct score prediction, following their scoring streak.
