MK Dons vs Rotherham Predictions

When they welcome Rotherham to Stadium mk on Saturday afternoon, MK Dons will be hoping to end a six-game losing streak, while they’ll also be looking for a first win in ten (in all competitions). The visitors, who’ve recently crept into the top six, go in search of a third straight win in League 1.

With Paul Tisdale, who did such a good job bringing them up last term, at the helm, MK Dons fans may have fancied themselves to enjoy a solid campaign this time around, though things have turned very sour over the last few months. A severe lack of wins cost Tisdale his job, while the Dons find themselves languishing in the dreaded drop-zone.

Under the management of Russell Martin, who was involved a player for the first part of this campaign, things haven’t got much better, though it’s still early days. Under the new manager, MK Dons’ home form must improve, as they’ve lost three of their last four at home and are now without a win in front of their own fans since beating AFC Wimbledon back in early September. In their last five at Stadium mk, the Dons have scored just one goal, while they’ve conceded eight. Simply not good enough.

While MK Dons’ home form has been appalling, Rotherham have been ticking along nicely on their travels. Saturday’s visitors come into this fixture having claimed more away points than all but one team in the division, winning five, drawing one and losing two of their eight travelling matches. The Millers have won each of their last three away games in League 1, scoring nine and conceding just one in the process. Such efforts should mean that they come into this fixture feeling confident.

Outscoring their opponents at home has been a big issue for MK Dons, who’ve scored six and conceded 14, but not for Rotherham on the road. The visitors have notched 12 and conceded just on their travels. Only Ipswich have a better travelling goal difference than Rotherham.

At the prices, ‘Rotherham to Win & Under 3.5 Goals’ appeals. In recent away games, none of which have seen more than three goals go in, Rotherham haven’t created an abundance of scoring chances, but they’ve still scored seven in their last three, and have restricted their opponents to very little, keeping a clean sheet in each of their last two on the road, conceding just five shots on target in the process. Combine this with the fact that MK Dons have simply not got going offensively at home of late, scoring in just one of their last five, and a relatively low scoring visiting win appears to be the way to go.
