Moldova vs Italy Predictions
- Sandro Tonali has three goals in his last ten games for Italy
- Moldova have conceded 26 times in six qualifiers
- Eight of Italy’s last nine matches have gone over 2.5 goals
Tonali could be key
Italy face a crucial World Cup qualifier against Norway on Sunday but first face Group I basement boys Moldova.
The Azzurri have won five of their six games in the group but fell to a 3-0 defeat against Norway in their opener and now need to make up the three-point gap if they are to qualify automatically for next summer’s World Cup, Norway have a 16-goal lead on goal difference so it is arguably four points.
The squad has been rocked by news that Liverpool forward Federico Chiesa declined a call-up but they should be able to put that behind them with a comfortable success over Moldova, who have struggled badly in this section.
A 1-1 draw against Estonia last time out is the only thing that the Tricolorii have had to shout about, losing all of their other five games by an aggregate score of 25-3.
Against such a weak side it is understandable to see Gennaro Gattuso’s men at such a short price but there is not much juice in it.
At the prices Sandro Tonali to score stands out, he has three goals in his last ten internationals and won’t get many better opportunities than against this leaky Moldovan defence.
Correct score backers may note that Moldova have lost four of their six qualifiers without scoring so a 4-0 Italy win is the fancy.
