Monterrey vs Club América Predictions
- Monterrey are yet to win a match in the Clausura phase; claiming just 3 points from 6 outings in it so far.
- Club America have lost just 1 of their last 8 matches and are unbeaten in 4 outings.
- Club America have lost just 2 of their last 10 away games.
Monterrey arrive in poor shape
After winning the opening phase of the season with some excellent performances, it’s fair to say Monterrey’s poor start to the closing phase wasn’t anticipated. Indeed, Los Rayados have got off to a terrible start, failing to win any of their opening 6 matches, claiming just 3 points to leave themselves bottom of the table.
Unless improvement is found swiftly, Monterrey are going to miss out on a play-off place, which would represent a huge failure given the quality in their ranks. Now facing a strong Club America side, confidence cannot be too high in home ranks and the pressure building on the team to end their winless run is sure to be having a negative impact on those in home ranks.
Club America arrive in good shape
Club America will be itching for revenge in this Sunday’s clash, as it was they who Monterrey defeated on penalties to claim the opening phase crown. America have looked a strong outfit this term and are once again expected to be the running for the title in this phase.
Currently 2nd in the table with 13 points from 6 matches, America are running along nicely and have now lost just 1 of their last 8 matches. Though this will still be a tough trip, confidence is high in visiting ranks and having lost just 2 of their last 10 away games, those taking to the pitch will be confident in bringing home a positive result with them.
Club America to keep Monterrey without a win
Ultimately, we’re expecting this to be a pretty close game and Monterrey’s recent performances makes it hard to justify their favourites tag. Though they are still a powerful force on paper and are typically strong as hosts, they aren’t playing very well and that will leave America confident in taking something.
All things considered, we see good value in backing the visitors on the Double Chance line and are more than happy to do so at current prices. If there is to be a winner, they look to be the more likely but we fancy things to end all square in a 1-1 draw.
