Morecambe vs Plymouth Predictions
This season isn’t quite going to plan for Morecambe. They achieved a very respectable finishing position in League Two last season and had high hopes of challenging for a playoff position this year, but some dreadful runs of form have severely hampered that ambition.
They have only managed just over a point per game on average this season, but thanks to the bottom two’s awful showing this season they are pretty safe from the relegation battle, with a 13 point cushion between Morecambe in 18th and York in 23rd.
Their form hasn’t shown much signs of improvement though. They did manage a win against Wimbledon earlier in March, but they returned to losing ways last week against Leyton Orient and have only won one of their last 12 outings in League Two, with nine of these being defeats.
Plymouth aren’t in the best of form either. They have lost three of their last four and only won one of their last seven in League Two, a run of form which has seen them drop out of the automatic promotion spots in the table.
They aren’t out of the running though, with only goal difference separating them from Bristol Rovers above them. Their main issue recently has been a lack of scoring form. They have only managed three goals in their last five away games, resulting in four of these five games having under three goals scored in total.
Plymouth’s solid defence should be able to keep Wimbledon contained easily enough, but their attack is a real issue. This makes odds of 8/11 for Under 2.5 Goals look promising, and I’m backing this along with a 1-0 win for Plymouth at 13/2.
