      Morocco -2

      Reason for tip

Morocco have grown into this tournament and were comfortable 3-0 winners against Zambia in their final group game. Facing a Tanzania team that only just squeezed into the knockout stages of AFCON for the first time in their history, the Atlas Lions should be able to book their place in the quarter-finals with something to spare.

      Morocco 3-0

      Reason for tip

Morocco have won seven of their eight previous meetings with Tanzania and have not even conceded in the last four head-to-heads, which includes back-to-back 2-0 wins in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup. The Atlas Lions will fancy their chances of going one better in this game, though, and they can replicate the 3-0 victory they enjoyed over Zambia in their final group match.

      Morocco vs Tanzania Predictions

      • Morocco have won seven of their eight previous meetings with Tanzania
      • The Atlas Lions won 2-0 home and away against Tanzania in World Cup qualifying
      • Tanzania are through to the knockout stages of AFCON for the very first time

      Atlas Lions clicking into gear

Morocco are favourites to win AFCON on home soil and after making a slow start to the tournament, they now appear to be clicking into gear which could be ominous for last 16 opponents Tanzania.

The Atlas Lions took a while to get going in their opening win against Comoros and could only draw with Mali in their next match, but they rounded off their group campaign with a resounding 3-0 success over Zambia.

Those results extended what has been an impressive run for Morocco, as their only defeats since losing to South Africa at the last edition of AFCON have come against Burkina Faso in a friendly and Kenya in the African Nations Championship.

      Not much hope for Tanzania

Tanzania squeezed into the knockout stages of AFCON for the first time in their history as one of the best third-placed teams, but their run is expected to end against the tournament hosts.

The omens are certainly not good for the Taifa Stars, who have lost seven of their eight previous meetings with Morocco and have failed to even score in the four most recent head-to-heads.

Morocco won home and away against Tanzania in qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, with both matches finishing 2-0, but with Walid Regragui’s side growing into their home tournament, they can go one better on Sunday and match the 3-0 scoreline they enjoyed in their final group game against Zambia.
