Liverpool looking to turn form around
Liverpool suffered another setback at the weekend, losing 2-1 to Brighton thanks to a late winner from Kaoru Mitoma to knock out the FA Cup holders. The Reds will be looking to bounce back against Wolves after winning just one of their last six games in all competitions.
The only victory in that run was a 1-0 win over these opponents in the previous round of the cup and Jurgen Klopp will be hoping his side can take confidence from that victory into this clash.
- Finishing in the top four is now the Reds’ top priority in the league and given the impressive showings of their opponents for that achievement, they need to start picking up wins sooner rather than later.
Wolves remain goalshy
Wolves dispensed with manager Bruno Lage last year and replaced him with Julen Lopetegui, with the former Spain and Sevilla manager steadying the ship as the Midlands side look to avoid the drop.
The number one issue for Lopetegui is the lack of goals his team have scored, netting just 12 times in 20 Premier League games, comfortably the lowest in the division. Finding the net has been an issue for this team for a number of seasons, they averaged just 37 goals across their last two full campaigns but a decrease in their defensive output has thrown them into focus. Now Wolves face a real battle to avoid the drop and their goalscoring is their primary issue.

Head-to-head record should give Reds confidence
While Liverpool have not performed well this season, they can take plenty of confidence from their strong head-to-head record against these opponents, they have won eight of the last nine meetings with Wolves and six of those have been Reds wins to nil.
The pair have already faced off twice this season in FA Cup, with the Reds edging the replay 1-0. Jurgen Klopp’s men urgently need to start winning league games if they are to be successful in the race for the top four and they can take advantage of a goalshy home team to take all three points.
