We use stars to rate our confidence in our tips, with 3 being most confident to 1 being the least.
Napoli 2-0 @ 6/1

Reason For Napoli vs Parma Predictions

  • Napoli have won none of their last seven Serie A matches, two of which they’ve lost.
  • No team have conceded less home goals than Napoli in Serie A this season.
  • Only five teams in the division have conceded less away goals than Parma this term.
  • Napoli rank as Serie A’s best team in terms of shots on target conceded at home.

Winless run coming to an end?

Given that they’ve generally been one of the top two or three sides in Serie A for several years now, it seems inconceivable Napoli would be without a win in seven league matches. And yet that is exactly the position the Partenopei men find themselves in.

No win in seven means Napoli have dropped out of the top six, though there’s reason to feel their luck is about to change. They’ve only lost two of their last seven and are clearly a tough side to beat. Moreover, Tuesday’s 4-0 win in the Champions League should’ve raised the confidence levels of Saturday’s hosts, even if Carlo Ancelotti is no longer at the helm at the Stadio San Paolo.

In addition, Napoli haven’t given a great deal away at home, conceding only six goals in nine games. They’ve also conceded less home shots on target than all other Serie A teams, shipping an average of 3.86. At the other end of proceedings, they average 7.86.

Trio of wins for the visitors?

When they lost to Milan, it looked as though Parma were heading in the wrong direction, having gone two games without a win. But they’ve since bounced back nicely, winning each of their last two in all competitions. Last time out in the league, they went away to Sampdoria and not only claimed all three points but kept a clean sheet, too.

As the league table suggests, Parma, who’re level on points with Saturday’s hosts, have done as good a job of getting results as Napoli this term. They’re not particularly big scorers, but they’re good at matching teams and avoiding defeat.

Even on their travels, Parma have done a decent job of making themselves tough to beat. Again, they’ve not scored an abundance of goals, notching nine in seven, but they’re not conceding a tremendous amount either, also conceding nine. They’ve lost two out of seven on the road and are now unbeaten in their last four travelling games.

Hosts to edge it

Napoli have performed as though their turn is near, but we shouldn’t expect them to run riot against a useful Parma side. The bet that stands out is ‘Napoli to Win & Under 3.5 Goals’. Parma are tough to beat and will undoubtedly put up a fight at Stadio San Paolo, but their defensive efforts on the road don’t quite match up to Napoli’s home exploits.

Not only have Napoli conceded 33% less goals at home, they’ve also conceded less shots on target and have a much more encouraging shots on target ratio. Napoli’s ratio at home is +4.00, while Parma’s is -5.00.

By being tougher to get at and bettering their opponents in terms of creativity, a routine, but relatively low-scoring home win is worth siding with. After all, Napoli haven’t scored more than twice at home in Serie A this season.
