Netherlands to Win and Under 4.5 Match Goals
Reasoning
Netherlands vs Malta Predictions
- Only one of Malta’s last 32 matches has gone over 4.5 goals
- The Netherlands have won by a 4-0 scoreline twice in the last 12 months
- Malta have only won three World Cup qualifiers in 115 attempts
Straightforward for Oranje
The Netherlands were comfortable 2-0 winners over Finland in their first World Cup qualifier and they should have few issues following that up with a success over Malta in their second game.
Ronald Koeman’s side have famously never won the World Cup so will be desperate to put that right in the United States, Mexico and Canada next year.
With Poland set to be without their star striker Robert Lewandowski for some time, their qualifying group looks fairly straightforward.
Malta can keep things respectable
Malta had some solid Nations League results recently, beating Moldova, Liechtenstein and Andorra, but they lost all eight Euro 2024 qualifiers and scored just two goals in the process.
They did manage to pick up their first point of these World Cup qualifiers by holding Lithuania to a 0-0 draw last time out but they had suffered a pair of defeats without scoring to FInland and Poland before that.
The Netherlands should have little issue getting the better of these opponents but the visitors can keep it respectable.
They didn’t concede more than four in any of their Euro 2024 qualifiers and a 7-1 friendly defeat to the Czech Republic is their only real hammering in their last 32 matches.
Side with the Netherlands to win and under 4.5 goals. Malta lost to both Italy and England 4-0 in 2023 and the same scoreline is fancied here.
