Newcastle vs Watford Predictions
- Watford have lost each of their last seven games
- The Hornets have been beaten in 13 of 18 league games this season
- Watford have lost six of eight away trips
Crucial clash for Newcastle
After a week spent desperately trying to get new signings through the door, Newcastle face a crunch relegation clash on Saturday. The Magpies have made a real push to get players signed in time to feature here, splashing £25million on Chris Wood.
With just one win to their name this season, Newcastle’s relegation fears are growing. Failure to win at home to 17th-placed Watford would spark even more panic, so it’s no surprise that the Magpies have strengthened. However, will it be enough?
Watford can’t arrest slide
Watford may be above the relegation zone right now, but their form is pointing towards relegation. The Hornets have lost their last six league games, while they were beaten at Leicester in the FA Cup last weekend.
The visitors have been beaten 13 times in their 18 matches so far, so Newcastle will get few better opportunities to boost their survival hopes. Watford are without a clean sheet in any of their last 28 Premier League games, so it could also be a perfect debut for Wood.
Newcastle to take their chances
The hosts have suffered this term thanks to their struggles in front of goal. They’ve only scored 19 times in 19 games, conceding 42 in return. Eddie Howe hasn’t really sparked a turnaround, but his team are bound to get chances against this Watford outfit.
The Hornets have lost six of their eight matches on the road this term and a strengthened Newcastle side can take advantage. In their last five home league games, Newcastle have lost only once. Back them to claim the points against Watford, with a 2-1 win my correct score prediction with both teams scoring in six of the Hornets’ last seven.
Newcastle predicted lineup: Dubravka; Trippier, Clark, Lascelles, Ritchie; Fraser, Longstaff, Shelvey, Joelinton, Saint-Maximin; Wood
Watford predicted lineup: Bachmann; Femenia, Sierralta, Cathcart, Kamara; Kucka, Dennis, Tufan, Sissoko, Sema; King
