Norway vs Montenegro Predictions
- Norway have kept only one clean sheet in their last five games.
- Montenegro have scored seven goals in four away World Cup qualifiers for 2022.
- Norway have lost only once in Norway since 2016 (P21, W13, D7, L1).
Montenegro coming up on the rails in Group G
Norway are still fighting for a place at Qatar 2022 and earned a deserved 1-1 draw in Turkey on Friday without star striker Erling Haaland.
That result allowed Montenegro, who won in Gibraltar, to close up on the rails and now – if they win in Oslo – the Brave Falcons could go level on points with Stale Solbakken’s men.
Montenegro were unlucky to lose when these two met in Podgorica earlier this year, piling on the pressure for an equaliser ion the second half and looking particularly dangerous from corners. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see Miodrag Radulović’s side get on the scoresheet on Monday, given Norway have seemingly lost their knack for keeping clean sheets.
Winning in Norway isn’t easy
But winning in Norway is easier said than done, as plenty of teams have discovered over the past five years. The hosts may not have the same firepower without Haaland, but still possess a capable defence and mobile midfield, which can keep the ball and avoid counter-attacks.
So we believe a close game should ensue – closer than the odds suggest – but one in which both teams can find the back of the net.The Brave Falcons have accumulated seven away goals in their four qualifiers on foreign soil, but they too have been a bit too open at the back.
We do wonder if Norway, who are also without Alexander Sorloth for this, can find the two goals they would need to win if Montenegro score, so our correct score prediction is for a 1-1 draw.
