Norway set for another open contest

We tipped Norway to win Group A in our outright predictions and they duly delivered, as they aim to impress at the Euros following group stage exits at the previous two editions. They’ve delivered on that so far, winning all three group games.

However, their quarter-final clash with Italy represents a step-up in quality, having landed a kind draw for the first round. There has to be some slight concern over Norway’s defensive issues, as they conceded in all three group matches. They shipped five goals in total from an xG Against of 4.5.

Norway have conceded in six of their last seven matches, while they’ve managed two clean sheets across 10 games in 2025. They counteracted that with some impressive numbers going forward, having struck eight goals at the tournament to date.

Italy made life tough for themselves by dropping points against Portugal. They couldn’t hold on to a 1-0 lead against the side which ended up bottom of Group B. They ultimately qualified, despite conceding three times to Spain after taking an early lead.

They should struggle to contain Norway’s forward line, but forward Cristiana Girelli offers some real threat going forward.
