Norwich vs Watford Predictions
Norwich’s bid for Premier League survival was looking rather strong a month or so ago after they have beaten West Brom and Newcastle in consecutive matches, but Saturday saw it take a massive hit.
They lost 1-0 at home to Manchester United, putting them four points from safety due to Sunderland’s victory over Chelsea. They have just six points left to play for and now need to rely on Sunderland failing to win either of their two matches and Newcastle to slip up as well. This is in addition to them winning both of their remaining matches, which doesn’t look likely at the moment.
Norwich’s defeat to Manchester United was their 4th in a row in the Premier League and their 13th in their last 17 outings in all competitions, with just two of those games ending in a win.
Watford haven’t exactly been at the peak of their powers recently either though. They have only won two of their last eight matches and have seen their hope of a top half finish almost disappear. They come into this match in 13th position with 44 points from their 36 matches, and they need to outdo four teams and make up a four point deficit before they hit the top half of the table.
They have marginally improved recently though. Troy Deeney got back on the scoresheet in their comeback against Aston Villa and they have avoided defeat in three of their last six games. Two of their defeats came against the likes of West Ham and Liverpool as well, so they were expected losses.
I think the visitors have a good chance of putting their fellow promoted team back in the second flight on Wednesday, especially considering Norwich have won just one of their last nine home games and have looked dreadful recently. Odds of 19/20 for a Watford Win or Draw Double Chance look good value to me, and I’m going for a 1-1 correct score prediction at 6/1.
