Panama vs Honduras Predictions

Honduras should have too much for Panama

Honduras kicked off their CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign with a 4-0 hammering of Grenada but Sunday’s opponents Panama should provide the Group D leaders with a bigger test.

Panama opened their account with a 3-3 draw with Qatar as they fought back to equalise three times.  Los Canaleros have just one defeat in their last eight games and that success has been built on a strong defence, with five clean sheets during that run.  However, when they do concede the floodgates tend to open and they have conceded six goals in their last two games after going down 3-0 in a friendly with Mexico prior to the draw with Qatar.

Honduras should have the quality to edge this tie and they are unbeaten in three ahead of Sunday’s fixture.  Los Catrachos claimed a 0-0 draw in a friendly with Mexico in their final game before the Gold Cup and are the form team going into this fixture.

Honduras have kept two clean sheets in a row ahead of their game against Panama at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston and we feel they can keep another shut-out on Sunday.  Panama may have hit three against Qatar, but prior to that drew blanks against Curacao and Mexico.

A Honduras win to nil appeals in this tie and 2-0 stands out in the correct score market.  Panama set up defensively and should be able to keep the scoreline respectable but they are unlikely to cause too many problems at the other end either.
