PAOK vs Slovan Liberec Predictions
PAOK will be wishing they are coming into this crucial match in better form than they are. Their loss at Panathinaikos on Sunday made it one win, one draw, and four defeats in their last six matches in all competitions, although they will be buoyed by the fact their one win was away to Fiorentina.
This has put them in a promising situation for this final Europa League group game, and despite lying in 3rd position they still have their fate in their own hands. They currently sit 3rd in the table behind Fiorentina and Qarabag, with three points between them and the top spot and just head to head results separating them from Qarabag. This means that if Qarabag win and PAOK win Fiorentina would move down to 3rd on head to head results, whilst if PAOK win and Qarabag fail to do so the Greek side would leapfrog them.
Fortunately for the hosts they are playing against bottom of the group Slovan Liberec, who also happen to be in a bout of poor form. They have only won one of their last eight games in all competitions and have lost four of them. The Europa League has seen them lose three of their five group games, including their home match against PAOK.
PAOK’s home form looks a little more promising too. They have lost their last two matches but prior to that they had won five and drawn two of their seven games, whilst Slovan Liberec are winless in six away from home and have lost their last four.
They aren’t the highest scoring team in football though. They have only scored five goals in the group stages so far and at home the majority of wins are by the odd goal or two. Defensively they are solid though, keeping a clean sheet in six of their nine home games this term.
Slovan Liberec could be in for a difficult evening then, as they have failed to score in five of their last six away days in all competitions. This is one of the main reasons for PAOK’s status as big favourites in this game, and I’m expecting them to keep another clean sheet. Odds of 13/10 for a PAOK Win to Nil look good value for money, so I’m backing that alongside a 2-0 correct score predictions at 6/1.
