Paris Saint Germain vs Monaco Predictions

We’ve all known it’s been coming for months, but Paris Saint Germain finally sealed the Ligue 1 title mathematically last weekend, and they did it in style. They absolutely decimated bottom of the table Troyes 9-0 away from home, a record away win in Ligue 1. It was that man Zlatan Ibrahimovic that stole the headlines though, netting four goals in the second half and a nine minute hat trick before stating that he would stay at PSG if they replaced the Eiffel Tower with a statue of him. Judging by his performances this season, I wouldn’t entirely blame them if they considered it.

A few people think that this could lead to a drop off in form for Paris Saint Germain due to a lack of motivation, but I don’t buy into that. They and everyone else has known that they were going to walk the title for months, and they have still continued at the blistering pace despite this, so I think we can expect them to continue handing out thrashings.

To be fair, they are on a poor run by their standards at the moment. They have lost one of their last five in all competitions and only won three. They have booked their place in the Champions League quarter finals and remain in a strong position to win both of France’s domestic cups, so an historic quadruple isn’t out of the question.

Monaco tried to put up a fight against Paris Saint Germain, but it was a fruitless endeavour. They seem to have lost momentum now as well, and they come into this match having only won one of their last six in all competitions and on the back of three straight draws.

Away from home they haven’t won in five attempts, losing twice and drawing three times. This isn’t good news considering PSG haven’t lost on home turf since Barcelona beat them 11 months ago, and they have won 17 of their last 19 games there.

Monaco’s last two games have finished 2-2, and their midfield is severely depleted and could find themselves taken out of the game by PSG. I think there could be goals aplenty: Paris Saint Germain have seen at least three goals in seven of their last eight matches in all competitions and Monaco have in six of their last seven. This makes odds of 4/5 for Over 2.5 Goals look incredibly good value, and I’m going for a 3-1 PSG win at 11/1 as well.
