Perth Glory vs Central Coast Mariners Predictions
Perth Glory have enjoyed a solid, if unspectacular start to the new A-League season, beating Wellington Phoenix and picking up a point against both Brisbane Roar and Western United. They haven’t been beaten so far and have done this without ever really leaving first gear suggesting that they have plenty more to give as the season progresses.
Central Coast Mariners on the other hand have had a disappointing start to the new campaign, picking up just one point with their opening day loss to Western Sydney Wanders being followed up by a draw at home to Newcastle Jets. The side have managed to score in both of their games so far this season but have had to rely on Milan Duric for both goals, something which won’t be sustainable.
Perth Glory have seen 53% of their shots hit the target so far this season but only 25% of those have resulted in a goal, something that Tony Popovic will be looking to increase, especially with the wealth of attacking talent at his disposal. That means Perth are likely to look for a big win against weaker opposition here and a large victory looks likely.
Compare this to Central Coast Mariners who have allowed 29 shots at their goal in just 2 games and the two sides look like they’ve got very differing levels of quality on the pitch. The visitors will have a hard job keeping the likes of Castro and Fornaroli at bay and Perth Glory to win the match looks like real value.
Perth Glory have won the last 4 encounters between the sides and have scored 13 goals in this time with Central Coast not enjoying the long trip west to HBF Park in recent years. These big victories give a little more support to our selection of a 4-0 win for Perth with the prices available looking a little big.
All factors point towards the home side winning this one by a large margin and Perth Glory fans will be very disappointed in any other result occurs. It’s hard to look past the hosts here with Central Coast looking like they have a step behind their rivals in the chase for the Premiers Plate this season and we’re confident that the big Perth win that has been on the horizon in recent weeks will be coming firmly into view this weekend.
