Poland vs Armenia Predictions

Poland came into this group as favourites to progress to World Cup 2018 on the back of a strong showing at the Euros. However, they got off to a poor start, throwing away a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 in Kazakhstan in their opener. They got back to winning ways on Saturday though, with the trusty Robert Lewandowski putting on a striking master-class to see off Denmark with all 3 goals in a 3-2 win. The Poles will be very keen to pick up another 3 points here ahead of their crunch game in Romania next month and in truth should have little trouble doing that.

Any thoughts that Armenia might be dark-horses in this group already look to have been blown away. They’ve lost their opening two games and defeat here will all but end their qualification hopes. A 1-0 defeat in Denmark in their opening game was respectable enough but they endured a nightmare opening 12 minutes at home to Romania on Saturday, which saw them reduced to 10 men and fall 3-0 down in double quick speed. An eventual 5-0 defeat would have been a huge dent to morale and playing a man down for 87 minutes will also have left them tired coming into this match just 3 days later where they may again have to do a lot of chasing.

In short, there should only be one winner here. Poland are a good side these days and in Lewandowski they have one of the very few genuine world class strikers around and he comes into the game high on confidence following that weekend hat-trick. There should be a few goals in this for Poland but there is just a small concern about how they’ve let in 2 goals in each of their last 2 games, having assumed commanding leads, so there is an outside chance the visitors could grab a goal here too.

Therefore backing Poland to Win & Over 2.5 Goals at 4/6 looks to offer value.
