Port Vale vs Bury Predictions

Two of League One’s more struggling teams meet on Friday night. Port Vale, after making a decent start to the campaign, have really dropped off of late and are now only six points above the drop-zone. Bury’s season has also followed a similar path. After a good run earlier on in the campaign, the Shakers went on a length losing run before finally winning last weekend.

Defending has been a real problem for both of these lately, although their performances at the other end of the field have differed considerably. Bury have rarely failed to acquit themselves well going forward, while Port Vale have been struggling for goals for some time. On this basis, the visitors are fancied to go well in this fixture.

At odds of 11/8, ‘Bury to Score Over 1.5 Goals’ looks a decent bet. The visitors, although they failed to win for a long time, carry a significant goal threat and haven’t found goals all that hard to come by.

The visitors may have won just once in their last ten, but they’ve only failed to score on two occasions, while they’ve scored at least twice in five matches during that spell. The fact that they put five past Peterborough on Saturday also bodes well ahead of this one.

Port Vale are perhaps better at home than anything else, but they haven’t defended all that well recently and could struggle against a rejuvenated visiting team. The hosts have kept just three clean sheets at Vale Park this season, while they’ve kept just one in their last ten league matches on home soil.

All things considered, it’s hard to see Bury – a side who’ve scored more goals on the road than 20 of League One’s 24 teams – not causing a rather lacklustre Port Vale side plenty of problems and they’re fancied to pick up where they left off last Saturday by putting a few goals away.
