PSG vs Angers Predictions
- PSG have five clean sheets in their last seven games.
- Angers have failed to score in their last two trips to this venue.
- Angers haven’t conceded more than twice in eight successive games,
Routine win for PSG
Paris Saint-Germain host Angers in Friday’s solitary Ligue 1 fixture and the French champions are unsurprisingly the short price favourites to win.
PSG should be able to win this game fairly comfortably and the best angle here could be backing them to see off Angers without conceding.
The Parisian giants did become a little complacent in home games last term as they conceded in their final five outings at the Parc des Princes, but their last home Ligue 1 shut-out did come against the visitors and they seem to be more locked in defensively now.
Luis Enrique’s men have five clean sheets in their last seven competitive games and they started the new domestic campaign with a 1-0 win at Nantes, while Angers have drawn blanks in four of their last six visits to this venue.
It may be a straightforward win for PSG but they may have to settle for a modest scoreline as Angers rarely lose heavily on the road. Le SCO finished just three points clear of danger last season but only conceded 20 goals in 17 trips, only three teams conceded fewer goals on their travels, and they managed a clean sheet against Paris FC in their opener despite playing for over half an hour with 10 men. As such, a 2-0 home win is the correct score prediction.
Ousmane Dembele featured as a substitute against Nantes after the UEFA Super Cup final but he should come back into the starting XI this week. Dembele hit 21 goals in 29 Ligue 1 games last season and can get off the mark for the new campaign with an anytime effort against Angers.
