PSG vs Montpellier Predictions

PSG can win a high-scoring contest

PSG have responded well to their 4-1 defeat at Newcastle with four wins in as many games since, and they can make it five in a row when Montpellier visit the French capital on Friday.

The Parisian outfit can move to the top of the Ligue 1 table with a victory on Friday, temporarily at least, and they should be able to make the most of that opportunity.

Games between these two sides tend to be high-scoring affairs so backing a home win and over 3.5 goals looks a good option for the main bet.

Montpellier can play their part

PSG have scored exactly three goals in each of their last four games and they are comfortably Ligue 1’s highest scorers, averaging 2.3 goals-per-game.

MHSC have also been strong in attack, however, hitting on average 1.7 goals-per-game and they scored three goals in total in the two league meetings with PSG last season – both defeats – so the visitors can add to the goals total as well.

A 3-1 win for PSG is the correct score pick as the hosts have scored exactly three goals in each of their last four games, and La Paillade can grab a consolation effort as they have scored nine goals across their five away fixtures.

Kylian Mbappe has 10 goals in nine Ligue 1 games for PSG this season and is the clear pick for an anytime goal – but as I’m expecting a goal for the visitors Akor Adams stands out as an outside option. The Nigerian forward his 15 goals in as many games for Lillestrom before linking up with Montpellier over the summer and has seven goals in 10 Ligue 1 games, including a double against Toulouse last time out, and he looks the most likely scorer for the away side.
