QPR vs Middlesbrough Predictions
With 9 games to go Middlesbrough are still well-placed to mount an automatic promotion challenge and would move into the top two with a point here although they would dearly love 3 points to ramp up the pressure on the sides around them going into the weekend. Boro lost 3 of their 5 Championship matches in March and nearly lost their manager so they’ll be hoping that the international break has given them time to re-focus and and make a real late charge for the Premier League.
QPR want top flight football again but it isn’t going to be next season with the club currently in 11th place and 11 points outside the play-offs. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink does appear to be building something and they are gradually creeping in the right direction after a predominantly disappointing season. QPR have taken 10 points from their last 5 matches which includes comfortable home wins to nil against high-flying Birmingham and Derby as well as local rivals Brentford.
Therefore they will have no reason to fear this game and are quite capable of adding Middlesbrough to their list of scalps. At the very least QPR now look like they are a tough side to beat. Since their 1-0 defeat when these sides last met at the Riverside in November, QPR have only lost 4 of their 21 league matches which is quite an impressive record for a team that looked a bit soft and easy to break down in the early weeks of the season. Middlesbrough have won only 1 of their last 7 away games and they’ve lost all their last 3 at Blackburn, Rotherham and Charlton, all of whom are lower than QPR in the table.
Therefore there is plenty of reason to back Double Chance – QPR or Draw at 8/11.
