      Rangers -2

      Reason for tip

Rangers have not lost a home match to Dundee since March 2001, and with Russell Martin determined to avoid another slip up after last weekend’s draw with Motherwell, the Gers are unlikely to show their out-of-form visitors any mercy.

      Rangers 3-0

      Reason for tip

Rangers were 3-0 winners over Viktoria Plzen in midweek, beat Dundee by the same scoreline in the League Cup last season, and will be determined to prove a point after last weekend’s draw with Motherwell. Another comfortable home win by three goals could be on the cards for Russell Martin’s side.

      Rangers vs Dundee Predictions

      • Rangers have made an unbeaten start under head coach Russell Martin
      • Dundee have not won away to Rangers since March 2001
      • The Dee lost to lower-league duo Airdrieonians and Alloa in this season’s League Cup

Rangers looking to replicate European form

Rangers have impressed under Russell Martin in Champions League qualifying, first knocking out Panathinaikos and then claiming a resounding 3-0 victory over Viktoria Plzen in the first leg of their third-qualifying round tie on Tuesday night.

However, Martin was not happy with his side’s display in their Premiership opener at Motherwell last weekend – a match that ended 1-1 – and he will be demanding his side do not drop their levels in similar fashion against Dundee.

The backing of a large home support should help ensure that does not happen, and Rangers have history on their side in this fixture, as they have not lost to Dundee at Ibrox since March 2001.

Pressley’s tenure yet to get going

If the history books don’t make for good reading for Dundee, then neither does their recent form, as they were beaten by two lower-league sides on their way to being eliminated from this season’s League Cup – Airdrieonians and Alloa – while they also lost their Premiership opener on home soil to Hibernian.

That slow start means the jury is still very much out on new head coach Steven Pressley and it is difficult to see Dundee taking anything from Saturday’s game given their torrid record at Ibrox.

Rangers have scored three or more goals in eight of their last 10 home matches against Dundee, including a 3-0 success in last season’s League Cup, and that scoreline could bear fruit once again on Saturday.
