Rennes 2-0

Reason for tip

Rennes should improve defensively with the return of right-back Przemyslaw Frankowski and centre-back Anthony Rouault from suspension this week. They have kept four clean sheets in their last five games with this duo and can shut out a weak Angers attack that has scored once across the last three games. Back the hosts to win 2-0, which has been the score in two of the last three league meetings at Roazhon Park.

Esteban Lepaul To Score Anytime

Reason for tip

Former Angers striker Esteban Lepaul has scored seven goals in his last eight appearances for Rennes. He is currently Ligue 1’s leading marksman with 15 from 26 games.

Rennes to overpower fading Angers

Rennes returned from the international break with exactly the response Franck Haise demanded, edging a wild 4-3 Breton derby at Brest to stay firmly in the hunt for European football. That victory lifted them to seventh, just one point off the top six and two behind the leading quartet, and with six matches left they remain very much in the Champions League mix.

Before that, a loss to Lille and a flat 0-0 against Metz had hinted at turbulence, but Rennes’ attacking quality resurfaced in Brest — led by Esteban Lepaul, now top of the Ligue 1 scoring charts after his latest brace.

With defenders Przemyslaw Frankowski and Anthony Rouault set to start again after suspension and Arnaud Nordin expected to return to the squad, Haise’s side look strong again.

Lepaul can punish his former club

Angers, by contrast, have been drifting. Already safe in mid‑table and too far from the European race to threaten, they have taken just one point from their last three games and were thrashed 5-1 by Lens before the break.

A 0-0 draw with Lyon steadied things slightly, but their away form and injury issues — including the continued absence of Carlens Arcus — remain concerns.

With superior form, motivation and firepower, Rennes look well placed to win with room to spare. Back the home side to cover a -1 handicap as Haise’s men have done in three of their last seven games. Also take the in-form Estaban Lepaul to bag against his former club.
