Roda JC vs FC Den Bosch Predictions

After a decent start to life under new boss Eric van der Luer, Roda JC were firmly stopped in their tracks on Monday afternoon as Telstar dished out a 4-0 hiding in IJmuiden. The result knocked the Kerkrade outfit down to 13th in the standings and they need to respond immediately this Friday night when they square off against Den Bosch to get back into contention for the Play-offs.

Whilst Roda’s away form has been suspect throughout the campaign, their 4-0 collapse at Telstar on match day 36 was far from expected after they previously posted two wins and two draws from four league games since Eric van der Luer replaced the outgoing Robert Molenaar in March.

The congested nature of the Eerste Divisie middle order meant the result was extremely damaging to their aspirations of making the Play-offs, and Roda will likely need maximum points from their two remaining matches to elevate themselves back into the top nine.

Fortunately for them, they return to Kerkrade on match day 37 where they have been a model of consistency this term – and they face a Den Bosch side who are in a real slump at present.

Roda have lost just one of their last 14 at Parkstad Limburg Stadion which has become a real fortress in recent times, although they have been guilty of too many draws of late with four recorded in their last five starts in front of their own supporters.

Nonetheless, we generally know what to expect from this Roda side when they turn out at home and they should be too strong for Den Bosch this week.

A 2-0 defeat to Cambuur on Monday extended The Blue White Dragons’ winless run on the road to eight and they have lost a whopping six of those games.

They have bagged just one win in their last nine league outings overall and it’s no surprise, with such results that Wil Boessen’s charges have gone from topping the table to a very poor 6th.

The visitors have no momentum whatsoever heading into the Play-offs, where they will surely come up well short, based on their 2019 performances, and Roda look a solid bet to cause them further grief here.

Den Bosch emerged victorious 2-0 in December’s reverse fixture but that was when Boessen’s side were at the peak of their powers, and we expect Roda to reverse that scoreline on match day 37 to bolster their impressive home stats – despite Monday’s lacklustre showing against Telstar.
